Mold Group

Mold Informal riding group offers experienced, self sufficient cyclists more of a challenge than most other groups in the area.
While our rides are open to all but novices and children, we love the Welsh Hills, rarely covering flat ground, often off road on rideable tracks or lost in a maze of narrow, muddy, gritty lanes with precipitous slopes. Sometimes we will not see a car for an hour or more. The reward is a feel of remoteness, pleasure in the unspoilt countryside and a lasting buzz ending in a happy exhaustion at the end of a long day in the saddle.
We all carry suitable equipment and sandwiches as we can't rely on finding supplies up-country. We mostly use touring bikes fitted with mudguards, often with fat tyres, as speed is not essential.

We can cover some considerable distances, up to 120 miles in high summer, but our winter rides are adjusted so we do not have too much cycling after dark.
We often support longer DA riding events, Audaxes or National Events like the Wild Wales Challenge and we occasionally cycle camp.
Just a word of caution, our rides are tough for many and the road conditions can sometimes be treacherous, so potential riders must be reasonably fit and well prepared. If you are in doubt, contact the secretary below who will be glad to advise. You will be made welcome!
